Emmys 2024 Red Carpet: All the Fashion, Outfits, and Looks
By Maggie Coughlan, Kia D. Goosby, and Miles Pope
It might have been a bit confusing that the Emmys 2024 honored television that aired in 2023 on Monday, but on the red carpet, contemporary and timeless fashion figured it out and managed to find a way to coexist. Though it’s been a long and winding road to the Emmys, which were initially scheduled for September 2023 and then delayed due to the Writers Guild of America and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards celebrated achievements in television that aired between June 1, 2022 and May 31, 2023. While that time frame may feel like ages ago, some performances are simply impossible to forget, and seeing some of Hollywood’s most esteemed stars on the red carpet probably jogged your memory—and maybe even a belly laugh or your tear ducts.
Last year, The White Lotus, Succession, The Bear, The Last of Us, Beef, and Ted Lasso were just some of the myriad of shows that kept us talking with their star-studded casts and standout performances—and the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences took notice. Succession, which ended its four-season run in May, earned a whopping 27 nominations, while The Last of Us, the HBO series starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, boasts 24. Just behind them were The White Lotus (yet another HBO show) with 23 nominations and Ted Lasso (from Apple TV+) with 21 nods, which meant the Emmys 2024 red carpet was packed with star power as nominees like Ali Wong, Quinta Brunson, Rachel Brosnahan, Christina Applegate, Natasha Lyonne, Jenna Ortega, Lizzy Caplan, Jessica Chastain and Riley Keough all stepped out to celebrate the night’s awards.
And this year's class of Emmy Award-winners were certainly dressed to impress. Ayo Edebiri took home the Emmy for supporting actress in a comedy series in a custom pleated leather look from Louis Vuitton while Wong won actress in a limited series or TV movie in a sequin and floral dress from the French luxury fashion house. Niecey Nash-Betts won supporting actress in a limited series or TV movie for Dahmer—Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story, wore a velvet (one of the biggest red carpet trends, as was the return of red) Greta Constantine gown and Brunson celebrated her win for actress in a comedy series in Christian Dior.
