BAFTA Awards 2024: See All the Red-Carpet Fashion
Though the BAFTA Awards 2024 will take place thousands of miles away from Hollywood, the annual ceremony remains an important part of awards season. In the lead-up to the Oscars (which are scheduled for March 10, 2024), the BAFTA Awards, which celebrate the best in film and television as determined by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, often serve as an indicator of momentum and trends—not just on the red carpet, but also among voters.
At the BAFTA Awards 2024, Oppenheimer is the front-runner of the evening, leading this year’s group of nominees with 13 nods. Anatomy of a Fall, The Holdovers, Killers of the Flower Moon, Oppenheimer, and Poor Things are all nominated for best film. And while the leading-actress category counts Fantasia Barrino, Sandra Hüller, Carey Mulligan, Vivian Oparah, Margot Robbie, and Emma Stone among its nominees, the absence of Lily Gladstone came as a surprise. Bradley Cooper, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, Barry Keoghan, Cillian Murphy, and Teo Yoo are all in the running for leading actor.
As for the show itself, David Tennant will host the two-hour-long ceremony, which is being held at the Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall for the second year in a row, after moving from the Royal Albert Hall. Sophie Ellis-Bextor is slated to perform “Murder on the Dancefloor,” her 2001 hit dance song that’s experiencing a resurgence more than two decades later after being featured in Emerald Fennell’s Saltburn. For those interested in tuning in, the BAFTA Awards will be broadcast on BBC One and available to stream on iPlayer, and viewers in the United States can watch the ceremony on BritBox.
